Jennie Stuart Health has received a shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines, and distribution of the shot has begun among Jennie Stuart frontline healthcare workers.
According to a news release, a distribution plan was already in place at the hospital in preparation of the vaccine’s arrival, of which they received around 500 doses. They also expect another shipment within the next few weeks. In phase one of the rollout, all front line direct patient care providers will be a priority along with teams from food and nutrition and housekeeping that have direct contact with patients. From there, other hospital employees and physician offices will receive the vaccine.
CEO Eric Lee says, “We are pleased to have received a shipment of the vaccine so we can begin distribution among our staff that has so diligently cared for some of our sickest patients. It is important for us to offer this level protection to our front line providers and staff.”
Hospital employees are not required to take the vaccine. Jennie Stuart officials urge people to keep up those healthy practices, such as wearing of facemasks, thorough hand washing and social distancing, in an effort to keep cases of COVID-19 down as the general public awaits the vaccine.
