The lack of a Christmas parade in Hopkinsville this year isn’t stopping Santa from coming to town this Sunday, along multiple routes through Hopkinsville.
According to a news release, in a partnership between Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation, Hopkinsville Fire Department and Hopkinsville Police Department, Santa will travel on three separate routes at once, starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday. A turn-by-turn list of truck routes will be available on the official Santa Claus is Comin’ to Hoptown Facebook event page.
Each firetruck carrying Santa will be followed by an HPD cruiser that will safely hand out goody bags to children, who can watch as he goes by as Santa will remain on the truck during all neighborhood stops to achieve good social distancing.
Superintendent Tab Brockman says, “We realize this has been a tough year for everyone, so we’ve been searching for unique ways we can still put smiles on the faces of children and families this weekend. This idea was quickly brought to life by our willing partners and sponsors, and we grateful to all of them for bringing Santa Claus to Hoptown.”
