CCPS preparing for return to in-person learning, vaccine rollout

Schools will be allowed to return to in-person instruction in January when the governor’s executive orders lifts, and Christian County Public School System Superintendent Chris Bentzel says they’re more than ready to get students back in classrooms.

Speaking with the media Tuesday, Superintendent Bentzel says the new executive order has mandates that require virtual options for students, accommodations for high-risk staff and more that CCPS already has in place.

One of the things he’ll be asking the School Board to consider at Thursday’s meeting is a vaccine rollout plan for teachers and staff—they’re also currently polling staff on their feelings towards getting the vaccine.

He says they expect to start receiving the vaccines sometime in either January or February.

Vaccines will be offered free to teachers and staff, and at no cost to the district—they are being provided by the state. They’ll also go over what state guidance labels as an ‘aggressive hybrid model’ of in-person learning, and what could occur for CCPS to meet those standards.
