A friend of Johnny Bench’s recently spent more than a million dollars on the Cincinnati Reds player’s memorabilia, only to donate it back to the legendary catcher. According to Action Network.com, the gesture was done by longtime friend Alan Horwitz. The Hall of Famer was selling off souvenirs to pay for his two youngest boys’ college fund. Hunt’s Auctions was tipped off when some of the items were going for twice to as much as five-times the appraised value of the items.
