Todd Fiscal Court approves sheriff department, county clerk budgets on first-reading

Todd Fiscal Court approved budgets for the sheriff’s department and county clerk’s offices on first-reading at Friday’s meeting and heard an update about CARES Act funding.

Magistrates approved the 2021 budget for the Todd County Sheriff’s Department, in the amount of $693,400.  That does have some changes from last year’s spending plan, with Sheriff Tracy White saying it includes a fifth road deputy position and a decrease in uniform expenditures.

Todd County Clerk Cindy O’Bryan presented the office’s 2021 budget, which she says includes raises for staff, which she felt were very much earned in this hectic election year.

She says she was able to work with the state to get reimbursed for expenditures for postage on absentee ballots and use CARES Act funding to replace needed equipment. Magistrates approved the spending plan on first-reading, which was in the amount of $192,800.

Judge-Executive Todd Mansfield says they’ve applied for and hope to receive at least two more checks of CARES Act funding in the coming week.

Todd County Jailer Jeff Penick gave an update on the jail, saying there are currently 106 individuals housed there, 81 of which are state inmates.
