An arrest was made early Tuesday morning after a car was stolen from the parking lot of the Dodge Store on West Seventh Street.
Hopkinsville police were notified of the stolen 2005 Chevy Malibu about 1 a.m. and officers located the car speeding on Seventh, approaching the intersection with Ninth Street.
The driver allegedly ignored attempts at a traffic stop and crashed out at the intersection of Ninth and Belmont Street.
The driver and a passenger, 18-year old Everette Cosby of Hopkinsville, fled on foot and Cosby was caught by police. He was arrested and charged with felony auto theft and fleeing or evading police.
The driver of the stolen car was able to get away and Cosby told police he didn’t know the driver’s name.
