NWS says odds are against a white Christmas in western Kentucky

A white Christmas isn’t impossible for western Kentucky in 2020, but it’s looking more and more unlikely with weather trends looking warmer as we get further into the holiday season.

The National Weather Service in Paducah hosted its inaugural weekly partner conference call Monday and Warning Coordination Meteorologist Rick Shanklin says the long range models are showing temperatures creeping above normal.

The odds are always against us for snow on the ground Christmas morning and Shanklin says it’s less likely than normal in 2020.

High temperatures this week will be in the 60’s by Thursday and there’s a chance for rain showers Friday night and Saturday.
