Despite the suspension of SEC Preseason Player of the Year Rhyne Howard, 11th ranked Kentucky opened the season with a 86-60 win over Murray State. Kentucky returns to action Sunday afternoon hosting another Ohio Valley Conference school in Belmont, while Murray State plays Evansville in its home opener next Tuesday.
Fifth ranked Louisville downed Southeast Missouri 74-53. Louisville is back in action Saturday hosting Cincinnati.
Austin Peay began the season with an 88-78 win over North Alabama. Brianah Ferby had 26 points to lead the Lady Governors with Shay Lee Kirby adding a career high 24 points. Austin Peay welcomes Trevecca for a 1 pm game on Saturday.
