A woman attempting to render aid to a motorist in Calloway County Thursday night was killed after being struck by another vehicle.
Kentucky State Police say it happened on KY 94 in the Lynn Grove community, where a vehicle driven by 83-year old Philip Berkley of Springville, Tennessee became stuck in a roadside ditch.
Two residents of the area, 51-year old Julie McCann and 66-year old Fred Thomas, came to Berkley’s aid.
McCann was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by 76-year old Ruth Leatherwood of Murray, and McCann was thrown into Thomas, who had been standing near her.
McCann died from her injuries and Thomas was taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Leatherwood was not hurt and foul play is not suspected.
