Kentucky concludes another record week for new COVID cases

Governor Andy Beshear announced a record total of new COVID-19 cases for a Sunday, which concluded a record week for spread of the virus.

There were 2,194 new cases Sunday, 732 more than the previous record from October 25. The new weekly record was also shattered by 3,766 cases.

The governor also announced four new deaths—residents of Daviess, McCracken, Ohio and Allen counties. The pandemic death total now stands at 1,787.

There are now 1,533 Kentuckians hospitalized with the virus, 389 are in the ICU and 208 are on a ventilator.

Kentucky’s positivity rate stands at 9.19 percent and 117 of Kentucky’s 120 counties are red on the state incidence rate map—including every county Lexington and west.

The Tennessee Department of Health announced 4,589 new cases and 55 additional deaths. The Volunteer State’s positivity rate is 12.54 percent and 2,065 people are hospitalized.
