A pursuit Sunday morning in Todd County ended with the arrest of the driver on multiple charges.
Todd County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patrick Turner clocked 24-year old Hunter Blackford of Elkton speeding on Butler Road about 8:30 a.m. and knew him to be sought on an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court to face burglary and other charges.
Blackford allegedly refused to pull over when Sgt. Turner activated his emergency equipment and made several turns before abandoning his pickup and fleeing on foot in the area of Allegre Road and Dowdy Road.
He was soon caught in a wooded area and placed under arrest. A search of his pockets and vehicle allegedly revealed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia to include needles and digital scales.
Blackford reportedly admitted to having consumed meth the previous evening and he tested positive for meth at the jail.
He was charged with fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, DUI, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia reckless driving, speeding and disregarding a stop sign. He was also served with the Logan County warrant.
