Ky. gains another record high day of COVID-19 cases

Kentucky experienced another record high number of new COVID-19 cases from Thursday to Friday, with nearly 4,000 at 3,825.

The positivity rate also stayed high, at 9.15 percent. Governor Andy Beshear calls the escalation of cases frightening, and reminded people that at 5 p.m., new restrictions recently set down calling for bars and restaurants to close to indoor seating, reduced capacity at gyms, and limiting gatherings down to eight people will be in effect

He’s hopeful these restrictions will be in place for only a few weeks, saying that people must come together to save the lives of countless Kentuckians.

Twenty more Kentuckians died due to COVID-19 Friday, including a 93-year-old woman from Marshall County, putting the death toll at 1,762.  The CDC is now recommending that people do not travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Tennessee Department of Health 3,444 new cases there, along with 74 new deaths.  Montgomery County reported 151 new cases, Robertson County gained 62 and Stewart County added eight.
