Kentucky has another record number of COVID-19 cases

Kentucky had another record single-day total of new coronavirus cases Saturday and Governor Andy Beshear says new steps to curb the spread will become necessary if the escalation doesn’t slow soon.

After almost 3,200 new cases Friday, the number Saturday crept just over 3,300.

Kentucky’s positivity rate and number of hospitalizations also continues to grow.

The governor says it will take the red counties on the state incidence rate map following state guidance and individuals doing their part to bring those numbers down.

Christian, Todd, Trigg and every other county in the Pennyrile region and every county in the Purchase region except Fulton are now red on the map.

Eleven more Kentuckians have died, bringing that total to 1,658.

Tennessee gained 4,662 new cases and 25 additional deaths. The Volunteer State’s death toll now stands at 3,877 and 1,868 Tennesseans are currently hospitalized.
