Kentucky finished off another record week of new cases of COVID-19 with 1,177 Sunday.
The state’s positivity rate has also been rising and is at 7.24 percent. There are 1,102 Kentuckians hospitalized with the virus, 279 are in an ICU and 148 on a ventilator.
Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack is quoted in a news release as saying, “With colder outdoor temperatures just around the corner, I encourage you to get outside and enjoy the great weather while it lasts.Remember that the very basics of COVID are the more we have contact with each other, the more transmission we’re going to see. So please avoid social gatherings, maintain a social distance of at least six feet, wear a mask and wash your hands thoroughly.”
The governor’s office also announced four additional deaths, bringing that total to 1,102 since the pandemic began. Three of the latest fatalities were from Hardin County and the other was from Marion.
Christian, Hopkins and Caldwell County remain red on the state incidence rate map and the surrounding counties are orange.
Tennessee reported another 3,636 new cases and five more deaths. Montgomery County reported 75 new cases, Robertson 24 and Stewart County gained nine additional coronavirus cases.
