Kentucky continues to see the number of reported COVID-19 cases grow, as Governor Andy Beshear announced 1,941 new cases Friday.
That’s a near record high for the Commonwealth, and the Governor is urging people to have a safe, healthy plan in place for celebrating Halloween. He says, “Remember, the more cases, the more people in the hospital, the more people in the ICU and the more people who die. It’s time for a coordinated community effort with everybody on board. Now is the time for leadership, not for excuses.”
He reminded that there are 68 counties in the ‘red’ critical zones on the incidence rate map, including Christian, Todd, Logan, Hopkins and Caldwell, and those counties should now be following those recommended ‘red zone’ guidelines.
Fifteen more Kentuckians have died, raising the death toll to 1,476, and the positivity rate increased once again up to 6.19 percent.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported a record high for COVID-19 related deaths there at 78—they also reported 2,608 new confirmed cases.
