Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree is on administrative leave while the investigation into an officer-involved shooting from Wednesday afternoon continues.
That’s according to Trigg County Judge-Executive Hollis Alexander, who says longtime Trigg County law enforcement officer Dane Hughes is in charge at the sheriff’s office until Chief Deputy Michael Sandbrink is sworn in Sunday.
As previously reported, the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at a location on Forrest Circle and an altercation ensued with 44-year old Bennie “Shawn” Biby of Cadiz.
Sheriff Acree discharged his duty weapon and Biby was pronounced dead at Trigg County Hospital by the coroner.
An autopsy Thursday showed Biby died from multiple gunshots to the torso.
Being placed on administrative leave is common procedure during the investigation of any officer-involved shooting.
