Christian Fiscal Court requesting second installment of CARES funding

Christian Fiscal Court made its request for a second installment of CARES Act funding Tuesday morning.

Christian County will receive a total of about $2.4 million in three installments and Treasurer Walter Cummings says the second installment of just over $731,000 is being used to reimburse payment of salaries at the Christian County Sheriff’s Department for about three months.

Cummings says the third and final installment will likely be requested in January.

Magistrate Darrell Gustafson says 10 new hangars are complete at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport and they’ll be in use by next week.

Christian County Animal Shelter Director Irene Grace reported that 380 animals were brought into the shelter last month and 265 found homes.

Nichole Mann with the clerk’s office says early voting has been going well and continues every day but Sunday until the election from 8 until 4 at the Christian County Sheriff’s Office and Senior Center.
