Indictments returned for rape, sexual abuse

A Christian County Grand Jury returned indictments for rape, sexual abuse and wanton endangerment Friday.

Now indicted on three counts of first-degree rape, three counts of second-degree rape, two counts of unlawful transaction, illegal sex act, with a minor under 16 years of age and three counts of sexual abuse of a minor under 12 years of age is 32-year old Dewayne Johns of Hopkinsville.  He had originally been charged with only one count each of first-degree rape, unlawful transaction with a minor and sexual abuse.  He is accused of sexually abusing and raping a young girl on numerous occasions between 2018 and 2020. Johns also offered the victim beer to drink during the alleged crimes, according to the warrant.

Indicted for two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and being a persistent felony offender in the first-degree is 34-year old Dayron Caldwell of Hopkinsville. He allegedly fired several shots from a handgun into the air when the victim attempted to break into a residence where her name is also on the lease, and then fired at the vehicle she was in when she attempted to leave. No one was injured and Caldwell followed them to James Village, where he allegedly pointed his gun at her again, but did not shoot, before breaking her rear glass.

Twenty seven-year old Quinasia Daniels of Hopkinsville is indicted for first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of fourth degree assault and possession of marijuana while armed after she and 25-year old Qaneisha Taylor had gotten into a physical altercation during which a gun was discharged. No one was injured by the gunfire. Taylor is also indicted for first-degree wanton endangerment.
