Unemployment dropped from August to September in all nine Pennyrile counties, but was up from a year ago in eight of nine.
Christian County’s jobless rate was an even 6 percent, down from 8.5 percent in August and up from 5.4 percent in September of 2019. It equated to 1,428 people who were looking for work and unable to find it.
Todd County still has the region’s lowest unemployment rate at 3.8 percent—down from 5.4 percent in August and up from 3.3 percent a year ago.
The September jobless rate in Trigg County was 5.6 percent, down from 7.1 percent in August and up from 3.9 percent 12 months ago.
Muhlenberg County had the Pennyrile’s highest unemployment at 7.2 percent.
The state rate was 5.2 percent and the national average was 7.7 percent.
