The Christian County Health Department gave an update on COVID-19 locally Wednesday, and there now eight COVID positive patients in the hospital.
According to a news release, the county gained 31 new confirmed cases from Tuesday to Wednesday—that brings with overall total to 1,806 with 278 active cases and 1,500 people having recovered from the illness. Christian County has had 28 COVID-19 related deaths.
Between the health department and Jennie Stuart Health, approximately 21,711 COVID-19 tests have been administered locally, not counting other health care providers. The positivity rate through the testing site at Tie Breaker Park was 13 percent.
The current incidence rate is at 26.6 which means Christian County is still in the “critical” red category according to the Kentucky Incidence Rating System.
The department is urging people to send only one member of the family per households into businesses if possible, make sure you’re frequently washing your hands, wear a face mask in public and social distancing whenever possible.
