McGrath makes campaign stop in Hopkinsville

Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Amy McGrath made a stop in Hopkinsville Friday afternoon.

She told a group of supporters at Tie Breaker Park that she was pleased with how Monday’s debate with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell went and she hopes he’ll agree to debate again before the election.

McGrath spent a significant portion of her 25 minute remarks criticizing the federal response to the pandemic, accusing McConnell of knowing the seriousness of virus early on and not telling Kentuckians.

She says Kentucky needs to reemerge from the pandemic better than the old normal and believes investing in modern infrastructure is part of that process.

McGrath says doing well in Christian County is important to her chances for success.

She voiced support for term-limits and criticized McConnell for what she sees as a lack of responsiveness to his constituents. She also vowed to support university pre-k and to enact policies for paid family leave.

McGrath stopped in Madisonville before her Hopkinsville appearance.
