Motorcyclist seriously injured in Lyon Co. collision

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a collision involving two motorcycles that occurred Wednesday at the Skinframe Creek Bridge.

According to a news release, the collision occurred around 10:30 a.m. when two motorcycles, operated by 62-year old Jon Shackleford and 58-year old Billy Marvel of Marion, were both heading southbound on US 641, about two miles north of Eddyville.  Traffic had come to stop in the area of the bridge due to a semi coming northbound—at the same moment, a pedestrian was also on the bridge.

Marvel had to come to an abrupt stop to avoid a collision, and Shackleford’s motorcycle collided causing Marvel’s, causing both bikes to overturn.

Shackleford was transported to an area hospital for what are described as ‘incapacitating’ injuries.  No other injuries were reported.
