Senator Paul pleased with Judge Barrett nomination, says country can’t afford another stimulus

U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Bowling Green has been pleased with the answers he’s heard from Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett during confirmation hearings this week and he doesn’t believe the country can afford another pandemic stimulus package.

In an interview with WHOP News Wednesday, the senator says he’s been especially intrigued with the types of questions asked by Democrats and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Republicans have been criticized by some for going forward with confirmation of a justice less than a month before the election, but Senator Paul believes Democrats would do it if the parties were reversed.

It remains to be seen if a compromise can be reached between the president and congressional leaders on another stimulus package, but Senator Paul doesn’t believe another stimulus is prudent.

The senator is critical of Governor Andy Beshear, saying he should reopen the economy at 100 percent with some protections in place for those most vulnerable to the coronavirus.
