Ky. gains 643 new COVID-19, Gov. gives update from quarantine

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear gave an update on COVID-19 in the state Monday while in quarantine due to a possible exposure the Governor had last week.

The governor was broadcasting alone from a room in the Governor’s Mansion, and says that’s how the updates will be until the quarantine period is over—he says he and his family have tested negative, but they’re doing as public health asks and staying isolated for now—and the member of the security detail they were exposed to is doing well.

The governor reported 643 new cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth, bringing the overall total to 80,930, with the positivity rate now at 4.37 percent.  Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack says the escalation is evident, and he reminded everyone to keep maintaining those health guidelines to help keep more people healthy.

Three more Kentuckians have died in relation to COVID-19. The Tennessee Department of Health is reporting 2,965 new cases of COVID-19 there and seven new deaths.  Montgomery County reported 84 new cases, Robertson County added 39 and Stewart County gained seven.
