Kentucky gained 1,059 new cases of COVID-19 from Thursday to Friday, with Governor Andy Beshear also announcing eight new deaths.
That raises the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state to 78,456—of the newly reported cases, 114 were children under the age of 18. The positivity rate continues to be below five percent at 4.32 percent, but Governor Beshear says there’s still just too many cases, some of which will be fatal to the patients.
He urges people to continue doing their best to stop the spread of the virus, especially by maintaining those well know health guidelines. Eight new deaths, including a 48-year old woman from Logan County, puts the death toll in the state at 1,242 Kentuckians lost to the virus.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported 1,556 new COVID-19 cases and 27 new deaths—Montgomery County reported 33 new cases, Robertson County added six and Stewart County gained four.
