The Christian County Health Department gave an update on COVID-19 locally Wednesday, announcing 18 new confirmed cases.
Those new cases brings the overall total to 1,355—of that, 176 are considered active and 1,156 people have recovered from the virus. Between the health department and Jennie Stuart Health, 19,006 coronavirus tests have been administered locally, not counting other healthcare practices.
Beth McCraw with Jennie Stuart says there are currently nine COVID positive patients lodged in the hospital and they have treated 123 COVID-19 related admissions since the pandemic began.
Amanda Sweeney with the health department addressed some myths they have heard in the community, including saying that only around 20 percent of cases have been from long term care facilities or Fort Campbell—the rest have been in the community.
She also says the health department makes no money from positive test results—and that even someone who had the virus can get re-infected, often after 90 days, so they should continue to abide by those well-known health guidelines.
Trigg County saw no new cases of COVID-19 from Wednesday to Thursday.
