Kentucky reported its second-highest single day total of new COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began Tuesday.
Governor Andy Beshear announced 1,018 new cases—a number he says is far too many.
At least 157 of the new cases are 18 or younger. Kentucky currently has 589 COVID patients in the hospital, 129 are in the ICU and 81 are on a ventilator.
Governor Beshear says as we head into the fall and winter—there’s the potential for this to become the most dangerous period in Kentucky’s pandemic if folks don’t wear a mask and follow other health guidelines.
The governor reported another eight deaths. The only good news was the state’s positivity rate dropped slightly to 4.24 percent.
Tennessee’s Department of Health reported 879 new cases and another 31 deaths. Montgomery County added 10 new cases and Robertson gained eight.
