Authentic held off a late charge from favorite Tiz the Law to win the 146th Kentucky Derby. Authentic led from the start and won by 1 1/4 lengths to give trainer Bob Baffert his sixth Kentucky Derby winner. The other Baffert trained horse-Thousand Words-acted up in the paddock, reared up and fell on his side just before post time. The horse was scratched and only 15 ended up running in the race.
