An investigation Monday afternoon at a gas station on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville led to the arrests of two people for drug trafficking and for endangering the welfare of a minor.
Officers were called to the Marathon station to check the welfare of a man and an arrest citation says they found 40-year old James Oliver of Hopkinsville outside of his vehicle arguing with other people.
His wife, 36-year old Erica Oliver, was still inside the vehicle with two children.
Both suspects were arrested on outstanding warrants and a search of their vehicle allegedly revealed a bottle of Hydrocodone pills that had been prescribed to Erica Oliver on Monday.
The prescription had been for 120 pills, but police say only 62 remained in the bottle, despite it being filled only hours earlier. The report says neither suspect could give a reason for so many pills being gone.
Police say they also found a digital scale and a baggie containing suspected heroin in the vehicle.
The Olivers were arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia and endangering the welfare of a minor.
