The Kentucky High School Athletic Association Board of Control voted today to start practice for fall sports on August 24 with Boys and Girls Soccer and Cross Country and Volleyball having its first matches on September 7th while Football will play its first games on September 11th.
The vote was 16-2 in favor of the measure, with the two Jefferson County representatives voting against the measure. Commissioner Julian Tackett also anticipates attendance restrictions at games along with those attending having to wear a mask as long as a mask mandate is in place:
Despite the vote in favor of going forward with fall sports, Commissioner Tackett indicated the Kentucky Department of Public Health, the Kentucky Department of Education or the Governor’s office could reject the measure.
