Bentzel discusses start of school year

Christian County Public Schools will open the new academic year with non-traditional instruction on Thursday of next week and Superintendent Chris Bentzel isn’t closing the door on reopening classrooms for in-person learning sooner than September 28 if that process works well in other communities where it’s being tried.

Bentzel appeared on WHOP Wednesday morning and said the district will keep an eye on local COVID-19 data and monitor other districts to determine if that’s feasible.

He reminds that families can go to their school or a designated feeding site in Christian County beginning next week to get a breakfast and lunch.

Bentzel announced the school system is partnering with Christian County Government to put wireless hot spots for internet access at each volunteer fire department in the county.

He urged parents to keep an eye on the district website and social media outlets for any new information on feeding site and hot spot locations.
