MLB Roundup

Kyle Schwarber belted a two-run home run in the Chicago Cubs 6-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field. Daniel Ponce de Leon gave up two-runs in three-and-a-third innings for the loss. Paul Goldschmidt and Matt Carpenter each drove in runs for St. Louis. The Cubs and Cards play a doubleheader today.

Tyler Matzek gave up four runs in the fifth while retiring only one in the Atlanta Braves 8-5 loss to the Washington Nationals at Truist Park. Freddie Freeman hit a two-run homer for Atlanta, which had its three game win streak snapped to dip to 14-and-11. The Braves host the Nats again tonight.

Off the field, Atlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis has been placed on the injured list with possible exposure to COVID-19. The team says Markakis tested negative but wanted to be cautious and avoid an outbreak. Markakis originally opted out of the season due to concerns over the coronavirus, but later changed his mind.
