Chase Elliott won the NASCAR Cup Series debut on the Daytona International Speedway Road Course. He held off Denny Hamlin to win the Go Bowling 235. Martin Truex Jr. finished third. The NASCAR Cup series will return to the track Saturday at Dover International Speedway.
Scott Dixon’s number nine Chip Ganassi Racing Honda will need mending. Dixon crashed into the wall at Turn Four during Indy 500 post-qualifying practice. Marco Andretti has claimed the pole. He is the grandson of legendary driver Mario Andrett. The Indy 500 will run this coming Sunday, but without spectators.
