The Dawson Springs man who was indicted for allegedly trying to murder a Christian County sheriff’s deputy in June died at the Christian County Jail Thursday morning from an apparent suicide.
Coroner Scott Daniel confirmed the death of 32-year old Bradley Dunning from an apparent suicide by hanging.
Jailer Brad Boyd explained what happened as he understands it, saying Dunning hanged himself in a shower.
Efforts by jail staff and EMS to revive Dunning were unsuccessful.
Boyd says Dunning left a note prior to taking his own life.
He says Dunning gave no indications that he was considering suicide.
Dunning allegedly pointed a handgun at Christian County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brandon Myers and pulled the trigger three times on the night of June 6, but the weapon did not fire. Dunning dropped the revolver when Sgt. Myers drew his duty weapon.
Sgt. Myers had stopped near the Pennyrile Parkway-Eagle Way Bypass interchange after seeing Dunning attempting to cross a wire fence in a field on a four-wheeler.
Investigation by Myers determined the ATV to be stolen from Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation.
