City of Hopkinsville receives ‘clean’ audit report

Hopkinsville City Council heard the annual audit report at Tuesday’s meeting and approved multiple ordinances, including renaming a section of West First Street as Phillip Meacham Way.

Kerry Fort with York, Neal and Associates presented the independent audit report to council, and informed them the City of Hopkinsville received a ‘clean’ opinion on their audit, which is what entities want on their audits.

The audit includes the financials and the internal control portions of government, and he complimented Chief Financial Officer Robert Martin and his office for their good record keeping.  He says the city has done a good job on maintaining a healthy available cash balance over the years.

Along with approving the name change to Phillip Meacham Way, council approved ordinances that closed alleys between East First Street and South Campbell Street and between South Cleveland Avenue and South Elm Street.  Also approved were two municipal orders accepting grant funding in the amounts of $30,000 and $55,261 to go towards improvements to the Hopkinsville-Christian County Airport.

Council approved a municipal order accepting approximately $2.2 million in CARES Act relief funding.
