Fort Campbell holds town hall discussing the start of school

Parents of Fort Campbell students who will go to school either on post, in Clarksville-Montgomery County or Christian County heard from each school district during a virtual town hall Wednesday morning.

Representatives from each district explained what the school systems are doing to get students back to school, either in-person or virtually, and with health guidelines in place, including the wearing of masks and strict social distancing.  Department of Defense Education Activity Community Superintendent Josh Adams says students on post will have the option of either traditional or virtual learning, and more information can be found on their website.  He does say they will be asking parents and guardians to do pre-screenings two hours before school each day and make sure their child is healthy before sending them to school.

Students attending class in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System will also have the option of in-person or virtual attendance, with Director of Schools Millard House saying school starts August 31 and the district will have the option to go to ‘remote learning’, should the need arise.

CCPS Assistant Superintendent Laura Morris described the options students will have in Christian County, including the Virtual Learning Academy, saying students who take that route will have access to a teacher on a daily basis.

Garrison Commander Colonel Jeremy Bell says he believes the COVID-19 cases have plateaued on Fort Campbell, and they have had no active duty soldiers hospitalized with the virus. School starts on post on August 24 and on August 27 in Christian County. For more information about school and what options are open, contact the individual school systems.
