Man arrested on drug trafficking charge

A traffic stop on a speeding vehicle Tuesday night on Greenville Road led to the driver being arrested on drug trafficking charges.

Deputy Scott Noisworthy stopped 32-year old Cody Cantrell of Hopkinsville at the intersection with Antioch Church Road and an arrest citation says Cantrell did not have his driver’s license and acted nervous.

A K9 alerted on his vehicle and police say methamphetamine, two narcotic pain pills, needles and anabolic steroids were found in two backpacks in the rear seat.

Cantrell told deputies he was only borrowing the vehicle, but that it had been in his possession for two weeks.

Cantrell was arrested for trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of meth, possession of opiates, possession of drug paraphernalia, DUI and speeding.
