Kentucky had its second-highest number of new cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began Saturday and nine additional deaths—including five Logan County residents.
The Logan County fatalities were three women—78, 80 and 81-years old—and two men, 83 and 96-years old. A 64-year old man from Simpson County was also among the dead. Kentucky has now lost 667 residents to coronavirus.
Governor Andy Beshear announced 583 new cases of COVID-19 and says the positivity rate is also on the rise.
He says wearing a mask is a large part of how Kentucky and the country can turn around current trends.
He says facial coverings and the other guidance Kentuckians have been following for four months will allow the economy to remain open.
Tennessee gained 2,517 cases of the coronavirus and 23 more deaths Saturday. Montgomery County added 68 new cases, Robertson has another 29 and Stewart County gained one new case.
