Gov. Beshear gives COVID-19 update, 299 new cases

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported 299 new cases of COVID-19 in the Commonwealth Friday, and four new deaths.

According to a news release, Kentucky now has 16,376 coronavirus cases—as of Friday, there have been at least 430,071 tests performed in Kentucky and approximately 4,747 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus. The four new deaths puts that total at 585 in Kentucky.

Governor Beshear reminded everyone to be safe this holiday weekend, saying, “This weekend, we have another opportunity to show care and consideration for our fellow Kentuckians, especially those at higher risk for severe illness and even death. Let’s be the best Kentuckians that we are capable of being. Let’s all commit to doing our part to ensure a safe and healthy Independence Day weekend for all.”

Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack reminds everyone to keep up social distancing, frequent and thorough hand washing and, most importantly, wear a mask when aroudn those not of your household.
