Fort Campbell seeing increase in COVID-19 cases

Fort Campbell has seen an increase in number of new COVID-19 cases, but all of the patients have been recovering well.

Fort Campbell and 101st Airborne Division Commander, Maj. Gen. Brian Winski didn’t give detailed numbers during a virtual town hall—but he confirmed they are going up and that none are in the hospital at this time.

He says most of the patients are experiencing mild symptoms.

Col. Patrick Birchfield is the commander of Blanchfield Army Community Hospital and says an increase in calls to the triage line and an increased number of people being tested are early indicators numbers are on the rise.

Post officials are urging members of the Fort Campbell community to continue social distancing efforts when possible, to wear a mask when in contact with others and to continue frequent and thorough hand washing.
