Christian County has fourth COVID-19 death, 43 new cases

The Christian County Health Department reported a fourth local COVID-19 fatality during this pandemic Thursday and announced 43 new cases of the virus.

The 69-year old male also had other underlying health issues, in addition to the coronavirus, according to the daily update from the health department.

Christian County is up to 225 total cases of the virus, 43 more than Wednesday’s number. Officials say 74 of those cases are active and 147 patients have recovered.

Health Department Spokesperson Amanda Sweeney confirmed that at least some of Thursday’s spike is related to an outbreak at a worksite in Christian County and additional details will be released Friday.

The Christian County Health Department recently conducted a large-scale testing event for workers associated with construction of the Oak Grove Racing, Gaming and Hotel.

The 43 new cases was the largest number for one day since the pandemic began.
