Major League Baseball and its players have agreed to start the 2020 regular season. In a tweet, the players union said all issues have been resolved. Training camps will begin on July 1st and Opening Day is set for July 23rd or 24th. Rosters will be expanded to 30 for the first two weeks. Also, a runner will be placed at second base in extra-inning regular-season games. No fans will be allowed to attend games as well.
There’s a possibility Nashville could be hosting Major League Baseball when the season begins. The Tennessean-citing a report from The Athletic-indicates “meaningful” discussions continued between the Sounds, the Texas Rangers Triple-A affiliate, and MLB about hosting games at First Horizon Park. The players, who are free agents, would act as an emergency system to MLB teams during the season and would play against each other in Nashville.
