MLB talks continuing, progress reportedly made

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred and Players Union President Tony Clark are back at the negotiating table working to have a 2020 baseball season. Sources confirmed yesterday that the two met earlier this week shortly after a weekend breakdown in communications. According to reports, progress was made at the meeting, and the two sides are much closer to hammering out an arrangement to have a shortened season with possible expanded playoffs. The most promising proposal appears to have a 60-game season played over 70-days with full prorated salaries and expanded playoffs through 2021 in exchange for players waiving any potential grievances.

The Major League Baseball Players Trust is committing one-million dollars to help minor leaguers unable to play this season because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Trust will pursue strategic partnerships with organizations involved in providing needs-based support for players throughout the minors. “We hope to help them navigate these tough difficult times,” Cardinals pitcher and Players Trust trustee Andrew Miller said.
