The Christian County Chamber of Commerce has announced there will not be a Leadership Hopkinsville class in 2020.
A news release says the decision to suspend both the adult and youth programs was recommended by the Leadership Committee which was approved by the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
Chamber President/CEO, Kelli Pendleton, said she believed that there were too many unknowns to be able to successfully launch the program this August, saying “Right now we just don’t know how many businesses are going to want groups of people touring their facilities. We also are concerned with the welfare of participants and do not want to risk anyone getting sick”.
Leadership Hopkinsville’s adult program usually has about 20 participants while Youth Leadership includes about 40 students.
The Leadership Committee Chair, Lea Martin, said the committee wouldn’t take the year off but rather explore ways to change the program and make it better.
Those who have already submitted applications for this year will not have to re-apply for next year and will automatically be considered for the next program.
