Fort Campbell reopening more activity

Fort Campbell has altered its health protection condition status to allow more activity to reopen as the number of coronavirus cases associated with post continues to be relatively low.

101st Airborne and Fort Campbell commander, Maj. Gen. Brian Winski said during a virtual townhall that a few more soldiers have the virus than the one from a couple weeks ago—but most of the cases are related and asymptomatic.

He says shifting from HPCON C status to HPCON B will allow for more training while protecting the health of the Fort Campbell community.

Soldiers can now request permission from their commander to travel outside of the 50-mile radius from Fort Campbell as long as it’s within a 250-mile radius and gyms and in-person chapel services are reopening on post.

Maj. Gen. Winksi says social distancing measures will still remain in place to prevent spread of the virus as facilities reopen.
