Christian Co. Republican Ex. Committee selects James Roy Knight Jr. as mayoral nominee

The Christian County Republican Executive Committee has chosen James Roy Knight Jr. to run as their candidate in the upcoming Hopkinsville mayoral special election.

The election will take place in November and will be between Knight and interim Mayor Wendell Lynch on November 3. Knight says he believes he would be the best fit to lead Hopkinsville into the future and away from ‘tax and spend’ policies.

He says, if elected, some of his priorities would be business friendly policies and bringing more people to Hopkinsville who would call it home.

Knight says he would also advocate to legislators to implement tax reform and move Kentucky to a taxing system similar to that of Tennessee and as a local farmer, he would highlight the importance agriculture has in Hopkinsville and would work to better improve the state of small businesses in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

Knight is employed at James Knight Appliance, the business founded by his late father. The Executive Committee will send in the proper paperwork to the Christian County Clerk’s Office to declare Knight as their nominee.
