NFL

NFL owners will video conference today to discuss rule changes. Multiple reports say proposals to add a sky judge are being withdrawn, but expanded communication between the booth and officials may be tested. An alternative onside kick rule and added protection for returners is also on the agenda

Basketball

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is canceling induction weekend. Chairman Jerry Colangelo tells ESPN the original August dates and alternate October dates just aren’t feasible. Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan and the rest of the Class of 2020-which includes former UK head coach Eddie Sutton who died recently-will instead be inducted next spring.

Auto Racing

Rain postponed the Alsco Uniforms 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It has been rescheduled for tonight. Fox Sports 1 will still televise the race. The next Cup Series race will be Sunday at Bristol.

Golf

Phil Mickelson wants The Match to become an annual event. He tells the LA Times that it could showcase guys like Steph Curry or Michael Jordan. Mickelson and Tom Brady just lost Sunday to Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning in the most-watched golf telecast in cable television history.
