Hopkins County reported no new cases of COVID-19 there in Wednesday’s update, but they did have one new death.
That means the total of cases in Hopkins County remains at 219, with the number of recoveries growing to 164, leaving online 26 active cases. Judge-Executive Jack Whitfield says as more of the economy continues to open back up, testing will become even more important, and there are tests available in the county.
Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton says those good hand washing practices and social distancing measures also remain vital for suppressing the virus.
There was one new death reported, bringing the Hopkins County total to 29 since the pandemic began. The Hopkins County Courthouse will reopen on Monday, with health guidelines in place, along with the drivers’ license office. Officials ask for patience as they learn to navigate the new restrictions and measures they will be working with to serve the public.
