Rep. Booker, U.S. Senate candidate, discusses priorities, pandemic relief

The COVID-19 outbreak is not slowing down those Democratic hopefuls running for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Senator Mitch McConnell, and the June 23 primary is fast approaching.

One of those hopefuls in Representative Charles Booker, who represents the 43 district in Jefferson County and was recently endorsed by the Kentucky House Black Caucus, the three member of House Democratic leadership and 16 of democrats in the House of Representatives. Speaking with WHOP News recently, Representative Booker says the pandemic has certainly made campaigning complicated, but he’s feeling like he has good momentum heading into June.

He says one thing the pandemic has highlighted is how poverty is truly affecting those in the United States, and in Kentucky, and he intends to work to fight those generational battles.

Representative Booker says he does support mail-in voting during the ongoing situation. He says if elected, his top priorities will be medicare for all, creating jobs and the environment.

Representative Booker will face-off against candidates Mike Broihier and Amy McGrath, and the winner off the primary will most likely go on to face Senator McConnell in the November general election.
