Brad Hawkins announces retirement from CCPS

A longtime name in the Christian County Public School System is retiring after serving the district in some capacity for 29 years.

According to a news release from CCPS Spokesperson John Rittenhouse, Chief Operations Officer Brad Hawkins will retire effective November 1st. Hawkins began his career at CCPS in 1991 as the Agriculture Instructor/FFA Advisor at Christian County High School before becoming Principal of the Career and Technical Center which he rebranded Gateway Academy to Innovation and Technology.

He was named to the Chief Operational Officer in 2015, which he has held until the present. He served as a district trainer for process and performance improvement and led the district through several cost saving projects and worked to improve the district’s school emergency response plans.

Outside of work, Hawkins volunteers for Pet Partners, an organization that focuses on provides animal-assisted interventions to a wide variety of individuals including veterans with PTSD, seniors and special needs students.
